PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WJW) -- Several fire departments battled flames at a manufacturing business in Painesville early Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 a.m. at an Avery Dennison Corp. building at 250 Chester St.
Painesville Fire Chief Thomas Hummel Jr. said an employee pulled the fire alarm because of a fire in the thermal oxidizing unit, located outside the building near the roof.
Employees reported that all workers had safely escaped and were accounted for, according to a Wednesday update from the fire department.
No injuries were reported.
Additional departments were called to assist when the fire spread to the building's roof. In all, Hummel said 19 departments responded to the scene.
Firefighters worked to contain the fire in the building's mechanical equipment and used aerial ladders to put firefighters on the roof to control the fire spread. The fire was contained to the edge of the roof near the oxidizer, according to the update.
The cause was determined to be a mechanical failure in the thermal oxidizer, according to the release.
The cost of damages to the building has not been estimated.
According to the Avery Dennison website, the company specializes in "global materials science and digital identification solutions." The business has locations in over 50 countries.
Hummel said the thermal oxidizing unit is used in the plant's processing.
