Parking bans in effect as snow piles up

CLEVELAND (WJW) -- With snow already piling up, and more expected by the time the weekend is over, several parking bans are in effect for communities in the snow belt.

You can find the parking bans that have been issued below:

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE:

The snow ban ordinance is in effect for Geneva-on-the-Lake It automatically applied when 2 inches of snow has fallen. According to a village police, residents need to move their vehicles from city street or risk a ticket or a tow.

CONNEAUT:

Conneaut's snow ban parking ordinance is in effect. If possible, residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the road. It's not clear how long the ban will remain in effect.

RICHMOND HEIGHTS:

The parking ban in Richmond Heights is in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1.

Vehicles are prohibited from parking on all city streets during the parking ban. According to the Richmond Heights Police Department, vehicles found parked on the streets during the parking ban are subject to be towed.

MENTOR:

A snow emergency and street parking ban is in effect in Mentor until further notice, according to the city's police department. No parking is permitted on any city street. Residents are asked to remove their cars.

MENTOR-ON-THE-LAKE:

The snow ban is in effect for residents of Mentor-on-the-Lake. The city's police department is asking for all vehicles to be moved off the city streets. It's not clear how long the ben will stay in effect.

PAINESVILLE:

The parking ban in Painesville is in effect and is expected to last throughout the weekend. When there is 2 inches of snow on the ground, the city enforces the parking ban meaning no cars are permitted to park on the street.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been extended until 7 a.m. Tuesday for Ashtabula and Lake Counties.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties from Sunday afternoon through Monday at 7 p.m.
